According to the
GOB the latest proposal that the Councillor of Tourism has launched for public opinion in connection with the canon or ecotourist tax, goes even further away from the original idea.
· Where will it be charged? It has gone from the project of collecting via the air and sea companies (within the ticket) to the hotels..
· What will the resources be dedicated to? The initial idea to dedicate the tax to environmental investments has passed to investments of all kinds (roads, sport, green zones..)
· The control of the investment? Initially they talked about social, economic and political control but now they say that only the tourist firms will have a voice and vote in the control.
From the first moment, the GOB has been in favour of a finalist "tourist tax" with social control that is charged on all the tourists and not only those who stay in hotels.
