Elvira González Gonzalo, doctor in the History of Art at the
Universitat
de les Illes Balears, archaeologist and director of the
Museu
de Lluc, has carried out a study on the graffiti in the bell tower
of the Eivissa Cathedral.
The work was commissioned by the Councillor for Culture of the Eivissa
and Formentera Council and includes all the inscriptions present, a total
of 43, some of which date from the XVI century.
The catalogue that has been edited to the study includes for each graffiti
a technical explanation, a photograph and a contact tracing. The
figurative graffiti are rare and in their majority are groups of inscriptions
of names, surnames and dates.
