Segway: a revolutionary human transporter

After months of speculation, the new Segway Human Transporter was presented yesterday in the United States. With dimensions no larger than the average adult body and the ability to emulate human balance, the Segway HT uses the same space as a pedestrian, and can go wherever a person can walk.

Its inventor is the entrepreneur Dean Kamen, wellknon for two other products: a plastic kidney dialysis machine and a versatile wheelchair that climbs stairs.

Segway HT will first be introduced for commercial. Consumer availability is planned for late 2002.
