The artist Cécile Ribas inaugurates in Sant Antoni her first
individual exhibition
Lola is an imaginary tourist, with three legs, and on rainy days, such
as Good Friday afternoon this year, she is said. The opening starts
without her. But, she does hang a warning note in the entrance of
the exhibition hall of sa Punta d'es Molí (Sant Antoni), and encourages
people to feel at home and to enjoy themselves.
"Les vacances de Lola" is the first individual exhibition by Cécile
Ribas Galumbo, an artist from Sant Agustí born in 1977 and who has
been living for two years in Barcelona, where she is completing her doctorate
in Fine Arts. Until April 13, this exhibition of photos and drawings can
be visited in the bay of Portmany, where she shows different moments of
the daily life of Lola, a three legged doll. "They are her holidays, her
neighbours. It is everybody and nobody", Cécile Ribs explains
about the show, that invites people to reflect on the values of the difference
and daily life. Lola is a 'wild card' character that can be invented
by each person, or applied to one's own experiences.
