Last weekend on Eivissa and Formentera the Adlib fashion show was held,
promoted originally in the 70s by the Yugoslavian princess, Smilja Mihailovitch,
and now organised by the Patronat de la Moda d'Eivissa i Formentera.
Sa
Punta des Molí in Sant Antoni de Portmany held on Friday a prior
fashion parade to present the creations by the young designers and pupils
of the
Escola
d'Art d'Eivissa.
The opening parade was held on Saturday in the city of Eivissa, in the
park Es Portal Nous de Dalt Vila, and had the participation of 21 designers
who presented their tendencies for Adlib fashion for 2002. The president
of the Consell d'Eivissa i Formentera, Pilar Costa, officially opened the
catwalk with a speech that thanked the designers of the Pitiuses, their
love of the islands that is reflected in their designs. The actor, Toni
Riera, and the journalist, Maika Vergara, were the comperes of the show,
in which, models, a group of children, dances from the Centro de Danza
participated, with a show that presented the four parts of the parade,
land, air, sea and fire.
The small port of Es Caló de Sant Agustí on Formentera
was the scene of the closing parade on Sunday. The mayor of
Formentera, Isidor Torres, and the councillor for Formentera, Santiago
Ferrer, said a few words to the numerous public present and with rain threatening,
the catwalk started with a similar content to that shown the day before
on Eivissa.
The 21 Pitiusan designers who have participated in Adlib 2002 are: Ishvara,
Triana, Gloria Bendita, Elena Deudero, Cáñamo, De Bois, Marta
Raffo, Melania Piris, Claudie Noëll, Luis Ferrer, Zarabanda, Ibimoda,
Maru García, Francisca Ferrer, Moleke, Charo Ruiz, Perlotti &
Giannini, Eva Cardona, Lopeta, Tres Ibiza and MapaMundi.
