The 28th edition of the "Curs Eivissenc de Cultura", organised by the
Institut
d'Estudis Eivissencs, started yesterday evening, in the Sala de Cultura
"Sa Nostra" in Eivissa, with a talk about the historian
Joan
Marí Cardona, who died last January from cancer.
Over 50 people attended this emotional event, in which some of the friends
and collaborators of the archivor and canon, spoke about different aspect
of his work and life. They stressed his great knowledge of the island,
his love of rambling was prior to his love of history - and during an hour
and a half they informed on unedited texts by the investigator as a tourist
guide of the island in Castillian, before his first work "La conquista
catalana de 1235" (1976), and also his massive knowledge and commitment
to the language and land.
The "Curs Eivissenc de Cultura" also presents many activities in tribute
to the writer and poet
Marià
Villangómez, who died last May. “Two irreplaceable losses for
our culture" added the president of the Institut, Marià Serra.
