AEBAL: The two Boeing 717 already flight over the Mediterranean
The two Boeing 717, Formentor and Macarella, of Aerolíneas de Baleares (AEBAL) have started operating after having regulated their situation before the General Direction of Civil Aviation. AEBAL have to cancel the flights planned for their first day of activity as they did not have the necessary permit.

As of writing this news, sources of the new company based in Palma, reported that they had received the Civil Aviation authority and that two Boeing 717, with 115 seats each, with which the company starts its activities, were at that moment flying over the Mediterranean.

Aerolíneas de Baleares (AEBAL) has Spanair as its main shareholder and links via three daily flights the airport of Palma with those of Menorca and Ibiza. AEBAL operates also between Palma and the mainland, with three daily flights to Valencia and Alicante.

The new airline has sale options to complete their airfleet with a total of 20 planes. At the end of July, a third Boeing 717 will arrive, which will be called Espalmador, which will permit an extension to the number of flights and destinations. The forecast is that in August they will link Palma with Bilbao and Zaragoza with a daily flight and Ibiza with Madrid via two daily flights, as well as introducing a new daily flight between Palma and Valencia.
