Greenpeace opposes the project by Sol Meliá in México
The Mexican government has authorised, via the Instituto Nacional de Ecología, the construction of a tourist complex on the beaches of X'Cacel and X'Cacelito, in the State of Quintana Roo. The project, promoted by five firms among which is the hotel chain Sol Melia, has the opposition of Greenpeace Mexico and the Ecological Group from Mayab (GEMA).

The beaches of X'Cacel and X'Cacelito, hardly 2.5 km long, are the site of the nesting by green turtles and cahuama, species in danger of extinction.
