National Hydraulic Plan

National Hydraulic Plan
The Spanish Cabinet Meeting, at the proposal of Jaume Matas, Minister of Environment, passed in their meeting of Friday, February 9, the National Hydraulic Plan and agreed to send the text to Parliament for its approval as a Project of Law.  The National Hydraulic Plan, foreseen in the Water Law of 1985, received the  favourable report, last January 30 from the National Water Committee, after incorporating into the text most of the allegations received.  The Balearic Government, together with other Autonomous Communities such as Aragon, voted against the approval of the Plan in the meeting of the consultant entity mentioned.

The National Hydraulic Plan contemplates an investment of 3'8 billion pesetas, of which 700.000 million will be destined to the transfer from the River Ebro to the deficit areas.  The balance will be destined to plans in each area. The Government expects that a third of the investment, which will be carried out over eight years, will be financed by European funds.

Andalucía and Aragón are the Autonomous Communities that will most benefit from the investments.  Balearics will receive 46.589 millions pesetas, which will be destined to the list of investments that can be consulted in PDF format in the Annex to the Text of the Draft Law.
