Fiestas for Sant Joan in the Pitiüses

Fiestas for Sant Joan in the Pitiüses
This weekend the Pitiüses will celebrate the "Festes de Sant Joan".

In Ibiza, the Sant Joan fiestas will be held in the town of Sant Joan de Labritja, in Eivissa city and in  Santa Eulària des Riu. Fire is the main star of the dance on Saturday evening, the magic evening so full of symbols; on Sunday, Sant Joan, the religious ceremonies will be held in nearly all the parishes on the island.

Meanwhile, the Institut d'Estudis Eivissencs (IEE) will celebrate on Saturday, June 23, the  "Nit de Sant Joan" that it organises every year in different town of the Island.  This year the festivity will take place in Sant Carles as from 9.30 p.m. The performances will be by Colla de Ball Pagès de Sant Carles and the group UC. During the festivity, the traditional Manifest will be read, in which, since 1973, the IEE states its point of view about the cultural and social reality of the Pitiüses. What is more, the winners of the "Premi de la Nit de Sant Joan" will be announced, instituted by the IEE in 1971 to award the school on Eivissa or Formentera that had excelled with any team work about any subject related to the Pitiüses.

On Formentera the eve of Sant Joan will be celebrated on La Mola... Fire is also the main star here during the dance.
