Teresa Lanceta shows “Teixida abstracció” at the MAC
The old church of L'Hosptitalet, one of the two halls of the Museu d'Art
Contemporani (MAC) in Eivissa will hold until the end of September the
exhibition "Lo món com a objecte art" by the Catalan artist Josep
Vallribera.
Vallribera --who was an important cultural promoter in Sant Antoni in
the 70's-- has not exhibited in the Island for more than 20 years. “Lo
món” is for this artist a “neutral concept, not masculine nor femenine”,
a world “that has many departments, that has places and people, and on
which history can be made". A neon letter "i", at the entrance of the church,
seems to interrogate the visitor about what he will find.
In the middle of the old church, a cross is formed with photographs
that represent different aspects of everyday life: a television, landscapes...
a road in Barcelona... The exhibition, based on ink drawings on paper and
newspapers, shows the mystery of every day life and time. Vallribera explains
that the singularity of the space that holds the exhibition "suggests to
me a mysticism air that I specially like".
More over, at the central space of the MAC, in the "Baluard de Sant
Joan" (see the photo), the exhibition “
Tejida
abstracción”, by Teresa Lanceta, can also be visited until the
end of September. The exhibition presents wool and cotton tapestries, stampings
and oils on canvas. The exhibition illustrates the present-day importance
of the geometric language in art, and links the vanguard styles with the
African and Indo-European cultures.
