How to make photographic portraits a work of art. This is what represents
the exhibition of photographs by the Israeli artist, Yehuda Neiman, "40
anys de vida dins l'art" that is presented in the Cultural Centre “
Sa
Nostra” in Eivissa. The exhibition will be open to the public until
September 8 and includes photos of artists (such as
Eduardo
Chillida and
Antoni Tàpies),
critics and professionals related to the world of art.
Neiman, born in Poland in 1931, emigrated to Paris at the beginning
of the fifties, where he became part of the followers of mec-art, that
restructured the figurative image via photomechanical methods, such as
photographic documentaries, shading and lighting, etc.
Neiman, according to Pierre Restany, "is outstanding for his portraits"
where he frequently uses objectives with special prisms, that multiply
the faces. In fact, he is one of the models used in one of his compositions
that he is exhibiting in Eivissa. Besides the photographs on paper he is
exhibiting lithographs and photographs on canvas plus paintings in oil
and images on metal.
