Next Sunday, May 19, the small village of Puig d'en Valls will celebrate
their Patron Saint festivity dedicated to "Santa Maria Mare de l'Església".
The village, that is part of the municipality of
Santa
Eulària des Riu, is situated on the hill Puig d'en Valls, with
excellent views over Eivissa city.
The programme began last weekend with cultural, popular and sporting
activities, and the opening of the new Municipal Offices.
Next Friday, May 17, at 9 p.m., there will be a performance by Raimundo
with his accordion and a dancing contest. On Saturday 18 there will be
several sporting activities, an exhibition of plants and a children's party.
Saturday will end with a popular "torrada" and the performances by the
folk group Puig d'en Valls and the Orquestra València.
On Sunday, May 19, the day of the Patron Saint, the festive activities
will begin in the morning with the chime of bells and a street parade,
followed by an artisan workshop by Sa Colla de l'Horta, where shoes, hats
and bags will be made. As from 11 a.m. there will be an exhibition of classic
motorbikes and an exhibition by the
Col·legi
Públic Puig d'en Valls dedicated to their 25 years of history.
At noon the solemn mass will take place, followed by the procession, popular
dancing and tasting of the traditional "orelletes" and wine. As from 1.30
p.m. there will be an exhibition of classic cars and in the evening, amongst
other activities, there will be an open air dance with music by the Orquestra
València. The party will end at midnight with a grand firework display.
