The Eivissa Council protects 5 rural wells, the Font de Balāfia
and the Convent dels Dominics.
The Eivissa and Formentera Council, via the Comissiķ Insular
del Patrimoni Historicoartístic d'Eivissa i Formentera (CIPHA),
has started the procedure for seven new dossiers to protect the heritage.
These are to protect the rural wells of Gatzara in Santa Gertrudis, the
Basques in Eivissa and Benet, Benimussa and Rafals in Sant Josep. All these
wells have been restored between 2001 and 2002 by the Eivissa Council,
except den Basques that will soon be restored by the insular institution.
Meanwhile, the Font de Balāfia is protected as a Property of
Cultural Interest (BIC) with the category of Place of Ethnological Interest.
The dossier includes a radius of protection of 70 metres with a view to
linking up with the areas of protection of the village Balāfia and
the church of Sant Llorenį, the parish where this fountain is situated.
The Font de Balāfia was restored in 2000 by the Eivissa and Formentera
Council, making it possible to carry out traditional dancing in the area
after 13 years.
The seventh protected heritage property is the Convent dels Domincs
in Dalt Vila of Eivissa, initiated at the end of the XVII century.
The protection as a BIC with the category of Monument includes both the
church and the Cloister, plus the old Refectory, today used as the Eivissa
Town Hall meeting room.
Finally, the Eivissa and Formentera Council have finished the restoration
of the Pou des Vicents, situated in the road that goes from the airport
to Sant Josep and that in the next session of the CIPHA the procedure will
be initiated to protect as BIC other singular buildings in Dalt Vila, such
as the Cathedral, the church of Hospitalet and Can Botino. Although the
Dalt Vila is already BIC with the category of Historical Group and has
its Special Plan, the Consell thinks that it is convenient to regulate
particularly this heritage to complete their protection, as is contemplated
in the Insular Plan of Administration of Historic Artistic Heritage 2001-2002,
approved by the full meeting of the council in February 2001.
The declarations of Catalogued Heritage and of Cultural Interest (BIC)
is based on the
Law
12/1998, of December 21 of the Historic Heritage of the Balearics.
