The Cuban sound and the mixture of Basque and Bulgarian music centre
the fiestas of Sant Agustí
The mixture of Basque and Bulgarian music by
Ttukunak
and
Rodopis and
the Cuban sounds by Sonora Corasón are the musical proposal for
the principal day of the fiestas of Sant Agustí, on Wednesday 28.
Sant Agustí's stand for ethnical music maintains its high level
of quality. Ttukunak is a group formed by the twin sisters Sara and Maika
Gómez,
txalaparta
players, a Basque percussion instrument.
The Bulgarian Rodopis are five lovers of Bulgarian traditional music
(Ivo Hristov, Plamen Ivanov, Kancho Kanchev, Nasco Hristov and Petar Kairiakov)
who formed a group in Madrid and have already recorded their first record.
The fusion of the popular music of theses two countries was already presented
in the festival
Pirineos-Sur
in Aragon.
As for the Cuban sound by Sonora Corasón, a video in ASF format
of a
concert
can be seen, that was held in the
Casa
de América de Madrid, where they played songs by Benny Moré,
Joe Arroyo, Oscar D'Leon and Ismael Rivera.
The fiestas begin this Sunday with an excursion to Sa Capelleta and
a folk meeting by the group of "
ball
de bastons" of the
Agrupació
de Ball Popular de Vilanova i la Geltrú.
On Friday, August 30 there will be a concert by
Los del Tonos, Can Raia Rock Band and Statuas de Sal, and
the day after, theatre. The fiestas end on September 1 with the typical
"festa pagesa" at the Pou d'en Rafals.
Complete
Programme in Catalan.
