Sant Mateu d'Albarca, a small village of the municipality of Sant Anoni,
has been celebrating since last Saturday 14, the patron saint festivities.
Over the weekend, amongst many other activities, there was a championship
of clay pigeon shooting in Cala d'Albarca and a High Mass in the Parish
Church. The festivities will continue during the week with card playing
competitions (Tuti and Manilla) in the Cafè Can Vell.
On Saturday 21, the festivity of Sant Mateu, the mass will be held at
12 noon followed by the traditional procession and, as usual folk dancing
by the Colla d'Albarca, accompanied this year by the regional group Cresol
de Alicante. At 8 p.m. bowling, a painting competition and a plant exhibition.
The dance with the Orquestra Tanit will include the prize giving and final
firework cracker.
Sunday 22 is dedicated to the elderly of the village, who will have
a coach trip visiting Santa Eulària, Sant Rafel and Sant Antoni.
At 7 p.m. will be the "Missa de Festa" also for the pensioners and
afterwards there will be folk dancing by the same groups as the day before,
a performance by Mago Dantes and finally bowling.
The programme also includes a clown festival in the Cala d'Albarca on
Saturday 28 as from 6 p.m.
