Eivissa celebrates the "Fiestas of the Land"

Three outstantding dates and a wide programme of activities.

A wide and varied programme of activities will animate Eivissa from August 1 to 14, due to the celebration of the "Festes de la Terra". The programme includes three outstanding dates: the "Festa de Santa Maria" (August 5), the "Festa de Sant Salvador" (August 6), and the "Festa de Sant Ciriac" (August 8).

The first fiesta, Santa Maria, will be held on Thursday August 5. The programmed events for that day are the traditional Triathlon on the Talamanca beach, the mass in the Cathedral followed by the performance by the Colla de Vila in the square of the Cathedral and the performance by Manu Tenorio, the star guest for this year, that will take place in the Parc Reina Sofia.

The second fiesta, Sant Salvador, will be held the following day, Friday 6 and will include the traditional tribute to the people of the sea, with a mass at 9 p.m. in the church of Sant Elm, followed by the 'act of the corsarios' on the fishermen's quay. The "Concert de la Terra", by the Cor i Banda Simfònica Ciutat d'Eivissa, Isidor Marí and Ballet del Centre de Dansa will end the day in the Parc Reina Sofia.

And the third fiesta, Sant Ciriac, will take place as usual on August 8. In the morning there will be the mass and procession in the chapel of Sant Ciriac and in the evening a popular picnic in the Puig des Molins.

The programme of events, that can be consulted in PDF format, includes many other proposals such as the ballet show by Angel Corella & Stars of American Ballet on August 11 in the Parc Reina Sofia, and the concerts of the "Festival Opera Night" on August 12 and 14 in the evening in the Town Hall cloister.
