Artur Parrón knocks down myths in his book about the civil war in the Pitiüses
The council hall of the Consell d'Eivissa i Formentera gathered together some 40 people this evening for the presentation of the winning work on research "Vuit d'Agost 2000", an award given by the Council. The study  “La guerra civil i el primer franquisme a Eivissa i Formentera” by the historian from Santa Eulària  Artur Parrón has been edited by Editorial Mediterrània.

The Mallorcan investigator Josep Massot i Muntaner was in charge of presenting the book.

The book analyses the period of Republican domination (with conversations for incorporate the Pitiüses into the Catalan Generalitat), the killings in Castell, and the hard following repression by Franco's troupes, with events such as the concentration camp for political Republican prisoners on Formentera, that remained open until 1942.
